Charlton House Wedding Photographer
Charlton House in the London Borough of Greenwich was the venue for Selena and Anthony's summer wedding. Charlton House is an amazing Jacobean mansion close to Greenwich and Woolwich surrounded by some beautiful gardens. It was built over 400 years ago during the reign of James 1 and provides a stunning back drop to your wedding day. The beautiful reception halls and wood panelled galleries are amongst the finest examples of their kind in the country and the lovingly restored walled gardens (including the amazing Peace Garden launched in partnership with Amnesty International) offer a serene retreat for you and your guests.
Aside from the look of Charlton House is the atmosphere. You can almost feel the history seeping through the walls and would not be surprised to see a member of Tudor family ambling through the corridors or gardens.
I was recommended to Selena and Anthony by a previous client, Katy whose wedding I photographed the previous year. It was lovely to see her again as well as their addition to the family, Baby Luke.
The weather was stunning, the perfect day get married! I arrived an hour so early to have a look around the grounds to determine the best location for the photos – fortunately I live very close so it was only a short drive. Before going to Charlton I went to Selena’s home to take her ‘before’ photos. She chose a beautiful white dress and the flowers were an explosion of vibrant purple.
The couple tied the knot in the beautiful wood panelled Long Gallery where their friends and family lovingly watched on. After the emotional ceremony we all went out to the front of the house to take the group photos.
For the romantic couple photos we popped round to the back of the house to the Peace Garden to take some lovely photos.
The Wedding Breakfast was held in the Old Library which can seat approx. 150 guests. The wood panelling, original fireplaces and intricate strapwork ceilings make it a charming place to celebrate. We were all surprised when London Fire Brigade turned up in a gleaming red fire engine as one of guests (I’ll let you guess who…) cheekily pushed the fire alarm. The firemen took it all in good humour and the party continued until the small hours of the night.

Their very kind Testimonial reads:
"We feel in love in Charlton House and thought that Paul from Whitehill Weddings would be the perfect photographer to capture our wedding after being recommended to us by some close friends who had their wedding photographed by him. We are thrilled by the photos and would like to thank Paul for all his hard work on our very special Big Day!”
